And it’s entirely plausible that Patel’s actions are 100% legal, perhaps even required. That’s why even trips that *look* personal (vacations or visits to home cities) often still use a government jet … because any interruption of secure contact could be a security risk. ## The “Cities Where He Travels” Context The article suggests Patel’s jet often lands in Las Vegas and Nashville, both are cities tied to his personal life (his former home and his girlfriend’s places of business). He is allowed to have a personal life, right? The locations could also correspond to field offices, law enforcement events, or other bureau-related meetings that aren’t detailed publicly due to security or operational secrecy. The absence of passenger manifests or flight purposes makes it **impossible for reporters to definitely know** what is official vs. personal use. `(Remember he is required to use the jet for personal use)`. ## Why Critics See a Problem The optics ~~look bad~~ can easily be made to look bad because Patel previously criticized his predecessor Chris Wray for doing something similar. It’s convenient to label this as hypocrisy and potential misuse of resources because it fits neatly within our narrative frame for *abuse*. Another hilarious framing is that **he used a jet during a government shutdown!** \- while some staff were left unpaid and pubic operations halted. ## LOL Tell me something. Do you want the FBI director *to not* do his job because the government is shutdown?
