## Potty talk pays

Our kids are random little weirdos; butts, pee pee and kaka; [90% of them](https://ia904606.us.archive.org/1/items/psychologyofhumo00martrich/psychologyofhumo00martrich.pdf?ref=pulpconversations.com) between the ages of 3 - 7 are all-in on toilet humor. Apparently a minute or two of structured *goof-ballery* leads to a 12-15% [bump in positive peer interaction](https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/EJ1276879.pdf?ref=pulpconversations.com).

When kids play together, how funny they are often depends a lot on who they are playing with. [In this study](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12069696/?ref=pulpconversations.com) 43% of the differences in how much kids joked and laughed during play could be explained by which friend or playmate they were with.

In other words, **you become the company you keep**.

Those researchers say kids who joke and laugh more with friends during play tend to have better social skills. They are better at understanding feelings, making friends, and getting along with others.
